How Often Should I Water?

How much do I need to water? How long for each zone? What are the restrictions on watering??

These are a few of the questions we get from clients about watering and irrigation systems. The first question, how much, leads to a good basic rule that during the growing season for lawns it needs about one inch of water per week. That can be from rainfall or irrigation and is sufficient for grasses from bermuda to fescue. Fescue will also require this much water during the heat of the summer even though that is not the "growing season" for fescue. Also, watering in a turf care treatment is also important for good results.

Plants are generally more tolerant of less water.
